Our reels spend ages in design and manufacture. We invest huge amounts of time and energy in them. They each have their own special characteristics that make them unique. The Angel is functional to the core, but you'll still be bewitched by its looks. That's why Rob Olsen chose to use it but he soon realised that there was more to the Angel than a pretty face.
"As a designer, I'm heavily into how things look and feel and on both counts the Angel suited me. In Mongolia, where anglers and gear are consistently pushed to the limits, the Angel came through like a trooper. Daytime temperatures as high as twenty-five degrees. Night-time down to twenty-five below. Sun. Sleet. Snow. Hard conditions but the taimen is even tougher. That's where the Angel really came into its own. Imagine this: a forty-pound fish going like a train. You've just simply got to stop it before the rapids. Stop it dead. That's what the Angel does. You screw down that reassuringly solid drag system and the break-pads stop the spool dead. You turn its head. The fish comes upstream and it's a second's job to lighten the drag and get on with the battle. Design, engineering, quality - all superb."
